Newslink Collections

American Journalism Review Newslink - Grades 6-12 - Here's a collection about journalism by journalists. It includes links to scores of media outlets, both domestic and international. There is also a variety of content dealing with the craft of journalism. Great reference source, and also an enlightening introduction for those interested in journalism as a career.

The Freedom Forum Online - Grades 6-12 - The Freedom Forum is an outgrowth of the Gannett Center for Media Studies. It concentrates on covering issues -- and reporting on issues -- which involve freedom of press, speech, and related concepts both in the U.S. and abroad. The site presents several current thematic collections, each with a series of articles, reports, or other coverage listed in reverse chronological order. Great source for perspective on reporting, news coverage, and divergent perspectives on public events.

Newsmaker Biographies - Grades 4-12 - ABC News offers this collection of short biographies and personal facts about people whose names are in the news. Excerpted from the network's databases, these bios provide basic information - and sometimes surprising details on the people who are making news around the world.

Pandia Newsfinder - Grades 6-12 - This Dutch search engine's newsfinder offers a pleasantly uncluttered, powerful resource for finding international reporting on a wide variety of topics. The system offers more than a dozen topic areas, and also permits searching on specific terms or events. This is a great resource for studying comparative reporting.

Ultimate News Links - Grades 6-12 - This is a huge collection of media links - newspapers, electronic media, and specialty publications - sorted by country and subject area. Some are in English, others in native tongues. An excellent resource for hard-to-find information.
