Written at an introductory level, it provides basic discussions of sampling, probability, and reporting error. A good background for any study of statistics or election polling.

Presidential Elections - 1896-1996 - The New York Times provides succinctly written summaries of a century of elections, offering some of the most interesting contests first. Each election includes a summary, photos, and a self-scoring quiz on the key facts.

Twentieth Century Sound Clips - Hear what they were talking about 75 years ago! These are very short sound clips from each of the presidents who served in the 20th century. Many of the clips are from campaign speeches. They show how political oratory has changed over the century. From Michigan State University.

Election 2000 Lesson Plans - from the PBS series The American President

Election Co-nection - An election simulation in which participants "design" their own candidates and let them participate in an election. This on-line activity includes lots of components to involve students.

The Freedom Channel - An independent project supported by The Freedom Forum, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, and several commercial sponsors. Heavy emphasis on video clips.

Issues 2000 - Candidates on the Issues - Here's a site that maintains sound-bite-sized position statements of the various candidates on numerous issues. Many of these go back months or years, and their brevity often results in a lack of context. Useful nonetheless.
