Students can practice the nuts and bolts of spelling with this collection of activities involving root words, suffixes, silent letters, and letter patterns. Some activities even include a listening component, so headphones are suggested. The site is created in the UK, so a few words may have different spellings from standard American English. Though the video say "not available in your area," there is still plenty of info to learn and interactive quizzes to take on this site; it's worth a visit.

In the Classroom
Use these activities as learning centers or stations during a unit on any on of the featured basic English rules. Haves students complete the site individually on classroom computers. Most of the sections have accompanying quizzes that can be used to test student knowledge before or after the activity.
