Objectives:

Students will research Abraham Lincoln and other famous figures from the 1860s and determine who he may have had the most contact with and how they may have interacted.

Activity:

Have students research information about Abraham Lincoln during the Civil War. Then have students brainstorm a list of people who might have been on Lincoln's contact list (on his cellular phone) or create text messages from Lincoln to U.S. Grant.

Tips:

If you aren't up to date on text message "lingo," you might want to take a quick look at text to show">this site. But be aware, this is NOT a site that you will want to share with your students. You may find some inappropriate "lingo" at this site.
