Lincoln Lesson Idea: Effective Words of Lincoln Level
- Middle School - High School Objectives: Students will examine the Emancipation Proclamation and the effect of this document on slaves and others in the United States. Activity: Share the site, The Emancipation Proclamation with your students on an interactive whiteboard or projector. Discuss the document together (or have students work in small groups). Then challenge students to write a blog entry (from Lincoln's perspective) as he ponders the Emancipation Proclamation. Have students leave a comment on the blog by Jefferson Davis. Tips: If an interactive whiteboard or projector is not available, print the document and have students read it together in small groups. Web Resources
