Lincoln Lesson Idea: Log of Lincoln

Abraham Lincoln

Level - High School

Subjects - Social Studies, History, Government, Writing, Language Arts

Objectives:
Students will measure what makes a great leader by interviewing various people.

Activity:
Work with your local paper (or use your school newspaper), and have students interview random people in the school hallways or on the street. Have students ask the local residents and students what they think of Abraham Lincoln. What made him one of our nation's greatest leaders? What could our current administration learn from Lincoln? Publish responses and photos of the people interviewed throughout the month of February on a class blog or website. Be sure to share your findings with local newspapers or TV stations as you approach Lincoln's birthday. They might even feature your class' work!
