Chapter Thirty-six- Writing Response Activity

Harry is faces a terrible loss in this chapter. Dumbledore sends him back to school and to safety almost immediately after saving him. It is difficult to imagine how Harry is feeling at this moment.

Elementary- Write a brief description of how you think Harry must feel. How did the events of the chapter make you feel? Do you believe that Dumbledore will help explain what has happened to Harry? Do you think the next chapter will have a happier end?

Middle School- Write a brief description of why you think Rowling included the tragedy that occurs in this chapter. Do you think it was necessary for Harry to experience such an event first-hand? What kind of impact do you think the incident will have on the remainder of the book?
