Breaking Color Barriers - A Science Unit for Grades K-2

At the work centers the children will each crack open an egg and draw/describe what they find. When they finish, parents should scramble the eggs, letting students continue to observe the process.

Let interested students sample the scrambled eggs to see if they taste different. (Save some for later!)

Summary

Call all the children to the group rug and ask if there are any scientists who can share their conclusions and findings. Record the children's responses to the following questions:

Does anyone want to describe what happened at the workstations?
Would anyone like to share a recording page?
What did you discover about these eggs?
If I have two eggs and the shells are different colors, does that mean the insides are different too?
What can you conclude about brown and white eggs?
Do you think this information is true about the outside and inside of any other objects?
What about animals?
What about people?
Let's eat our eggs while I read this book.
