We don't have pictures from the days of slavery. The pictures below do not show actual slaves. They were taken about 70 years ago, and they show people who were living in the buildings on a former plantation in Alabama. While we cannot be certain, these buildings are probably very much like those that slaves on the plantation used in the days prior to the Civil War.
