Science and Nature -- Animals - BBC Grades 3 to 12

This BBC site is good for information on habitat, size, life span and physical description of mammals, birds, and sea life. There are quizzes and activities on all kinds of animals and habitats. You could spend days exploring the oceans alone! Photographs of animals are included. Check out the Children’s Zone for younger students. Real Player is needed for this site. In the Classroom:
Depending on age of students, teachers may want to preview and save certain areas of this site in your favorites for students to view. Use a projector to model searching for information on a website and talk about citing sources in a report. Or give instructions and specifics to look for and send your students out to find their own information. You can even load an animal screensaver or wallpaper on your classroom computer to go along with your current unit topic. This site is a great reference to have marked in your Favorites all the time.
