Interactive sites on grammar abound on the Internet, but this one from the University of Calgary is simple without being too simplistic. It contains sections on parts of speech, sentence elements, punctuation, and word use. Word use is particularly effective with older students who sometimes have trouble distinguishing idioms and euphemisms, etc.

In the Classroom

This is a good site for students to work on their personal Achilles heel of grammar. Good for a computer lab lesson, it also affords teachers the opportunity to go over particular skills or parts of speech for each class. This site also links directly to two other Calgary sites that are excellent student/teacher tools: The Writing Guide and A Student's Guide to Presentation of Essays.

You will definitely want to include this link on your teacher web site and as a Favorite on a classroom machine for students to use as a quick reference. When you correct papers, just tell them to see the site to clarify word use issues.
