his is an extensive site that documents the watershed, habitats, creatures, and human inhabitants that have an impact on the Chesapeake Bay ecosystem. There are detailed resources on each of these areas, and more than enough material to use either within the curriculum or as grist for student research at many levels. A little exploration should yield numerous instructional possibilities.

This site is a little out of date, but offers captivating information and images concerning poverty and other cultural geography themes. Use this site as a learning center or station within a cultural geography classroom. This activity works best if students have a graphic organizer to use as a follow-along - we recommend using a site such as Graphic Organizer Maker, (reviewed here) for easy to make sheets.

These maps are excellent for a History or Geography teacher attempting to refresh students on the political geography of an area. Before teaching a unit on the Middle East or Asia, refresh and quiz students with these worksheets to help with both map skills and understanding of the area. Often a weak point in student knowledge, it can never hurt to help students become more aware of political geography.

- Grades 9-12 - This unit is based on the debate over damming the Hetch Hetchy Valley in Yosemite National Park, which helped mark the evolution of the conservation movement. The unit has two parts: the first details conservation through the rationales of various historical figures, and the second outlines the case study of Hetch Hetchy. The format of the second part includes a mock hearing where students present their researched ideas. In the course of the unit, students will also compare historical ideas of conservation with current ones.

Allow students to explore the interactive tour on the interactive whiteboard or projector. It does take a few seconds to load, but once up the tour is a great way to show how the Smithsonian treats the artifacts the get and learn more facts about dinosaur. Use this site at the end of a unit on dinosaurs to review in a different way! It might not be the same as going to the museum itself, but it isn't a bad replacement.
