This site demonstrates how important it is to keep hands clean before different activities. The video of a chef explaining the importance of hand washing precedes several activities. After each activity (no interaction here), you select the steps to hand washing.

tag(s): hygiene (9)

In the Classroom

Use this in kindergarten to show students the importance of washing hands after using the restroom or before eating. Keep your classroom healthy this flu season by making hygiene a theme of the week. This would also be good to have on a computer at a center as a reminder to primary grade students. ESL/ELL students will enjoy learning the limited vocabulary that comes with the hand washing steps.

FluentKey turns videos into interactive learning activities to teach world language learners (including American Sign Language). This site's videos engage learners through the addition of captions, quizzes, and games embedded into videos. Take advantage of the large library of videos found on the site, or upload your own videos from YouTube, Facebook, or your computer. After creating your account, add class information and student lists, then assign videos and add quizzes and other interactive content. Students access your assignment using the code created; as students complete each assignment, view responses and class averages to each question on your classroom dashboard. In addition to assigning content to individual students, FluentKey Live is an interactive game for classrooms. Use FluentKey to easily differentiate world language lessons for students and allow them to progress at their own speed. Help ENL/ESL students master English using videos and quizzes based on their knowledge level. This is also an excellent tool to provide language learning experiences based on student interests. Even if the language isn't included with the videos on the site, find and upload videos for student use and add quizzes along with additional content. As students become proficient in a new language, encourage them to share their knowledge using a variety of multimedia tools. Annotate images using Google Drawings, reviewed here, create an audio recording of conversations, or use PhotoCollage, reviewed here, to create the collage. As students become more proficient in their new language, ask them to record short podcasts with a podcast creation tool like Podcast Generator, reviewed here, and share tips and advice with their fellow students.

Ask students to practice using Vocaroo, reviewed here, an online audio recording tool. Use Vocaroo to enhance classroom technology and for students to practice speaking and hearing their work in English. As ESL/ELL students become more comfortable in their new language, ask them to create and share their own list of phrases with other students. Are you stuck trying to write a poem? These generators will help you through the process. Choose from a variety of different formats including haiku, limerick, and acrostic to begin. Once started, fill in the provided blanks to add names and other information then view your completed poem. Copy the poem as created, edit to your liking, or choose the regenerate option to generate a new creation. New to this tool are several Artificial Intelligence (AI) poetry generators. Enter a word or phrase and the AI Generator will create a poem for you. Make sure your students know to attribute the AI Generated poem. There are programs out there to detect AI created writing, see GPTZero, reviewed here.

Have you ever told anyone, "Let me Google that for you?" That is what LMGTFY is all about! This site allows you to demonstrate how to Google (and much more) terms, then send a link with a step by step demonstration on how to complete the search. LMGTFY has grown beyond Google and now offers users the ability to select from several popular search engines including Bing, Yahoo, Ask, and DuckDuckGo. The drop-down box provides choices to search the web, images, video, and more. After making selections and entering a search term, click to get the link or choose preview to view the information.

Use LMGTFY to teach students how to use search engines effectively. Create links demonstrating searches using different terms and different search engines and have students analyze the results. When students create multimedia presentations of research projects, ask them to include a screen share using Free Screen Recorder Online, reviewed here, to show their search method using LMGTFY. This site is perfect to use with young students to demonstrate proper search techniques.
