Vietnam Web Quest - Developed by a classroom teacher, this site asks students to research aspects of the Vietnam conflict and develop an appropriate memorial and commemoration of the war. The quest draws on a variety of sources and perspectives.
Vietnam - 25 Years Later - CNN's special report on the changes in Vietnam since the end of the war, and the lasting impact of the war in both Vietnam and the United States. The site includes a very usable time-line, numerous articles, and a brief history of Vietnam from the 16th century onward.
Remembering Kent State - The shooting of students at Kent State University by Ohio national guard troops was one of the most wrenching events in the Vietnam protest movement. We include two sites on the subject in this section because the 30th anniversary of the shootings closely coincides with the 25th anniversary of the American withdrawal from Vietnam. The link above is to CNN's coverage of the event. In addition, Kent State University has its own site.
Remembrance - Grades 9-12 - This "labor of love" site offers a collection of essays and other writing by Vietnam veterans. The essays describe dozens of events, people, campaigns, and other aspects of the Vietnam conflict.
Study Guide to the Vietnam War - Grades 9-12 - This site offers an annotated bibliography of reference and information sources dealing with the Vietnam conflict. The listings include both primary and secondary sources, and most of the content is geared towards academic research. The site could be useful for AP student work, or for teachers interested in covering a particular aspect of the Vietnam conflict in greater depth.
Teaching Vietnam - Grades 8-12 - This site was created to provide a historical perspective on America's involvement in Vietnam, and was funded by a large group of corporate underwriters. The site is based on a series of thematic timelines, each of which tracks the history of American involvement in Vietnam. Visually attractive, with lots of links to supplementary information.
Viet Web - Grades 6-12 - Created by a university professor based on his travels, this site includes lots of photos of Vietnam today, along with a surprisingly comprehensive history of the country beginning with its ancient past. While there is time spent on America's involvement in Vietnam, this is a site about the country, not the war.
The Wars for Vietnam - Grades 9-12 - Historical perspective on Vietnam, its history, and the evolution of American involvement.
Vietnam - Stories Since the War - Grades 9-12 - From the PBS Point of View series. A collection of short remembrances from Vietnam veterans on their personal experiences since the war. Navigation requires some patience.
