Question of the Week Archives

Question:

What questions would you suggest candidates ask when they are being interviewed for a teaching job?

Replies:

Carol - Norwood, NY
What recent technology changes have you made in your building?

What is are three goals you have for your teachers? What are three goals for yourselves as administrators?

Terri Messing - Port Orchard, WA
There are a few of questions I would like candidates to ask when they are being interviewed for a job: 1.Has this school become a professional learning community? 2. How involved are parents in this school? 3. How open is this school to new pedagogy?

Ileane - Ft. Myers, FL
After the usual questions about what classes you will teach, your schedule, etc., I would ask "what do you expect from me?" That will give you insight into making your boss happy, at least until the next principal comes along. In my case, it was the key to what makes a good teacher.

Marilyn K. Stucky - Newcomb, NM
Does the school administration promote "team teaching" or collaborative support among the staff.
