Question of the Week Archives

Question:

Much research has been done on the variety of roles that mothers and fathers play in the lives of children and teens. Which do you find has more impact on student learning: getting mothers or fathers involved? Do you see any difference in the roles each can play?

To answer this week's question: Both. A united front work wonders on improving student learning. A caring parent, regardless of sex, is a caring parent and valued at school. I just wish I could get the majority of my parents to come to school.

I think that fathers play a huge role in the learning of kids. Men see things a little differently than women and that's not a good or bad thing, it's just different. Young boys need men in their lives to help them to see things that women cannot teach them. Once again, not good or bad, just different.
