Question:

Would you rather have a new class whom you know nothing about or a group that comes with warnings from last year’s teachers? Why?

I am a teacher and a learner at heart so it makes no difference to me.Children react differently to various teachers, they can sense inadequancy in a teacher. It is important to be well equipped to tackle them, to motivate and catch their attention.Once you can instill a love for the subject, they will be no trouble.Pains have to be taken to create interest in the subject you teach.

I would rather not have the warnings. I teach 7th and 8th grade, and so many of the students change between their 6th and 7th grade years that many of the "warnings" are not true.

I would rather not have any warnings about their academic level, but do appreciate warnings about behavior issues. Sometimes just knowing helps me prepare my mindset so that I start from the very first day winning them over to my way of doing things and alleviates some of the issues.

This is a toss-up and one that I have been having some anxious feelings about as I rapidly appraoch the new school year. I have been warned by several of the teachers in the grade level below me about the upcoming class. Overall these teachers did have a challenging year with behavior and work habits. However, some have been "warning" us since last Christmas. I do appreciate tips about students I will be working with, however, I had my first back to school "nightmare" the other night due to these warnings. Long story short, I would rather be informed of certain student's need of improvements but left with an open mind of getting to know them and forming my own judgements (for lack of a better word.)
