Question of the Week Archives

Question:

Toys have become more and more sophisticated and often are marketed to parents as ways to improve their child's academic achievement. If you were to recommend ONE toy that will really help a child learn now and later in school, what would you choose -- and for what age(s) would you recommend it? Secondary teachers should weigh in, too!

I would recommend HOOKED ON PHONICS. So many kids have reading problems these days. I believe a firm foundation in reading is key to being successful in all areas.

I just finished compiling a game closet for our school. a few of the best educational games are: Scrambled States,Big Brain, Blurt, Zeus on the Loose, For Get It, and Pictureka. The kids love the games and they are really learning too.

scrabble and dominoes: no electricity required and only your imagination limits the games you can play.
