It’s not FAIR!
Our students are the first to cry out when they think something is not “fair.” But understanding Copyright and Fair Use is not nearly as automatic for them. Even the savviest teachers work hard to use digital resources ethically. It is our job to try, and try again until we “get it.” TeachersFirst's Copyright and Fair Use Resources collection offers both sites to help you and your students understand what is/is not good digital citizenship and places to find Creative Commons and other copyright safe images, sound files, etc.. Teachers are not lawyers, but we are obligated to model “fair” use work created by others.

Two Historic Gems
Students enjoy TeachersFirst’s Frontier Forts of the American Revolution because they can “see” and experience what life was like during this era. Middle school and high school students love to dig through the infographics and thought provoking questions in Gettysburg by the Numbers. Share it on any device, including BYOD! There is something for every interest, building beyond dates and data to questions and connections about this Civil War turning point. Mark both in your favorites for upcoming units.

Boys will be... readers!
Finding ways to hook boys in reading can be a challenge. See ideas and strategies from an experienced elementary library/media specialist in Hook the Boys on Reading. Your elementary boys will love you for it.
