Chapter One - Civics/Social Studies Activity

In this chapter, Rufus Scimgeour replaces Cornelius Fudge as the Minister of Magic. Think of a change in leadership that you have experienced at the local, state, or national level. Has there been a new State Representative elected? Is your governor up for re-election this year? Or perhaps the last time you watched an election was the 2004 Presidential Election. Write a paragraph describing any changes you noticed when the new person took office. How was the new leader different than the old one? Were you happy with the result? Are there any other individuals (coaches, principals, or teachers, for example) that you think would be good leaders? What qualities do you think such a person should have?
