In the Classroom

Save this site in your favorites on classroom computers and use it as a center. Use this site on a projector or interactive whiteboard to discuss and informally assess prior knowledge prior to introducing a unit. Use it as a cumulative assessment by having students independently take a quiz and then print the results. Students can complete the quizzes and games independently or with a partner. After assessing students, create worksheets for students who may need more practice. Be sure to list this link on your class website for students to use both in and out of the classroom. Find a variety of calculators including windchill, cube root, and more.

Online Math Learning is a huge website with numerous resources including interactive problem generators, a video library, worksheets, and links all organized by grade level and subject level. This site is very well organized, easy to use, and has something for every grade level and nearly every subject/topic area. Advise students to ignore the advertisements.

In the Classroom

Use the interactive section's problem generator to create team competition as students use the site on an interactive whiteboard or projector. Check out the videos to reach struggling students or help deepen understanding of concepts. For a project, have students recreate a video using a site such as SchoolTube (reviewed here) and share with classmates. Be sure to include this site on your class web page for students to access both in and outside of class for further practice.

Practice math skills with these quick, timed games. View games according to grade levels and content skill. There are a large number of activities and skills for each grade level, ranging from 41 skills for Pre-K through 241 skills for sixth-grade! Race against the clock and watch your score for total correct answers. This site also includes some other features for a fee. But this part of this site free, This site also allows you to view the State Standards for each state in the US. Tip: many games have students typing answers. They do not need to click "submit" with the mouse. Pressing Enter works, too, and your students may not know this.
