Google Jamboard is a collaborative, online whiteboard application. Use the tool options to access the pen, eraser, add sticky notes, and upload images. Jamboard also includes some limited options to change the background. Add "frames" to create whiteboard displays similar to a slide show. Email the link to your board to add collaborators using the share icon. Be sure to select the drop-down box to add collaborators as editors, not just viewers. When finished, use the three dots near the top of the page to rename your Jamboard, download your work as a PDF, save as an image. All work automatically saves within your Google Drive account.

Use Jamboard on your interactive whiteboard (or with a projector) to share and highlight information for students. When finished, save and share as images for students to access in Google Classroom or on your class website. Enable the collaboration options for students to use when planning projects or as a tool for recording and sharing information. For example, ask groups working together on a science experiment to use this tool to share images and annotations throughout the experiment. Save Jamboard slides as images in digital portfolios. If you don't have a Microsoft Office subscription, no need to worry, access and create PowerPoints online with the free version found at the Office Online site. Start from scratch with a blank presentation or choose from the many templates on the site. After selecting a template, add text, images, draw, and incorporate all of the features of PowerPoint. The default option includes the Simplified (single line) Ribbon, turn it off to view the enhanced Ribbon with additional customization options. PowerPoints created at the online site save automatically to your OneDrive account that is accessible from any device. Use the share link to copy the link and email your presentation.

Take advantage of this free PowerPoint option to incorporate into many different classroom uses. Share this option with students who don't have access to a free Office account. Use PowerPoint to create interactive lessons that include video, images, and links to additional resources. Select any topic to view the courses offered with a summary and grade-level suggestions. Each unit is correlated to Common Core Standards and includes features such as videos, games, digital lessons, and teacher guides. Use the teacher dashboard to create classes and enroll students after completing the free registration information. Be sure to bookmark this site as an important resource for lessons about the coronavirus and also as a resource for implementing online teaching activities. Incorporate ideas and activities found on this site into a blended learning system such as ActivelyLearn, reviewed here or TES Teach Blendspace, reviewed here. Both of these sites include features to create remote lessons with text, videos, and quizzes and provide educators instant feedback on student understanding. As students develop an understanding of the effects and makeup of the coronavirus, use the Image Annotator found at Class Tools, reviewed here to upload and label an image sharing their knowledge. For example, have younger students upload a picture of their home, then label different surfaces with a short sentence on how they can spread or receive germs. For older students, ask them to use the Image Annotator to label the different areas found in the community that leads to the spread of disease.

This recording of an OK2Ask online professional learning session from March 2020, opens in Adobe Connect. As you reflect on how you integrate technology into your instruction to support curricular objectives, it is important to evaluate lesson effectiveness. Join us as we take a deeper dive into the Triple E Framework. We will provide strategies and tools to help you understand if technology implementation in your classroom impacts learning in a deep and meaningful way. Other frameworks help us understand connections between learning and technology, while the Triple E Framework helps us evaluate the effectiveness that technology use has on student achievement of their learning goals. Learn to analyze lesson plans and apply the Triple E Measurement tool to inform your practice to design and teach better lessons using technology. Participants will: 1. Understand how to use the Triple E rubric; 2. Explore technology integrated lesson plans; and 3. Plan for the use of technology in the classroom. This session is appropriate for teachers at all technology levels.

Talk to Books uses artificial intelligence to ask questions and find responses from within books. The answers include the passage containing the response along with a citation, including the author's name and date of publication. Click on the link to view the passage within the book or to go to the Google Books link. Sample questions provide ideas and examples of how to use the site.

In the Classroom

Take advantage of this site to find specific resources to use within classroom lessons. One example on the site asks, "Why did World War 1 happen?" Responses link to several passages discussing the start of World War 1 and provide alternatives for students to review and discuss as they look at the causes of World War 1. Use a browser extension like Webnote, reviewed here, for you and your students to add comments and notes to any webpage. As you find particularly interesting articles, enhance learning by using Fiskkit, reviewed here, as a collaborative tool for sharing and discussing online articles. Fiskkit offers tools for highlighting and sharing information within online articles. Ask students to include and reference information found through the Talks to Books within any presentation. Extend student learning by having them use a tool like Wakelet, reviewed here, to present information. Wakelet is a presentation tool that offers resources for sharing websites, images, links to Twitter, and more.

Create and share data with the different GIF formats offered by Google News Lab. Choose from the three theme options - rectangles, circles, or racetrack to begin. Follow the prompts to add a title and data values. Add data as a percentage or numerical values then customize your GIF by selecting from different color options. When finished, save as an HQ (high quality) or LQ (low quality) GIF. Once created, save the GIF to your computer or share using the provided link.

In the Classroom

This tool provides you and your students an excellent resource for engagingly sharing data. Use the Data GIF Maker to create a visual display when collecting data. For example, begin using this tool by polling your class to find out their favorite type of pizza and then enter the data to create a GIF. Use the same data in all three included formats to compare and contrast how the information looks based on the type of chart used. Take this same information and have students calculate the percentages and create GIFs to compare and contrast this information with your original images. Once you and your students are familiar with how to use this site to create GIFs, use it to enhance student learning by including GIFs within your presentations for students to evaluate and to visualize any data. Create GIFs to document student reading logs, the amount of time spent on homework, or time spent on community service. Have students include GIFs when annotating images using ThingLink, reviewed here, or within presentations created with tools such as Sway, reviewed here.
