Do you want to engage your students and have time in class to give extra support to those who need it? Then you need to use flipped and/or blended learning. In this session, we will simplify these instructional models and introduce a tool that will support both. Blendspace allows you to create interactive lessons that deliver instruction digitally while allowing flexibility for student pacing. Engage and Inspire your students with this free teaching resource. Participants will: 1. Understand the instructional case for flipped and blended learning and the differences between the two; 2. Explore a tech tool that can deliver digital content; and 3. Plan an authentic learning activity using flipped/blended learning. This session is appropriate for teachers at all technology levels.

In the Classroom
Use FluentKey to easily differentiate world language lessons for students and allow them to progress at their own speed. Help ESL/ELL students master English using videos and quizzes based on their knowledge level. This is also an excellent tool to provide language learning experiences based on student interests. Even if the language isn't included with the videos on the site, find and upload videos for student use and add quizzes along with additional content. As students become proficient in a new language, encourage them to share their knowledge using a variety of multimedia tools. Annotate images using ThingLink, reviewed here, create an audio recording of conversations, or use PhotoCollage, reviewed here, to create a collage. Use Duolingo in your world language classes as another form of practice and enrichment. Have students sign up to compete against each other in a fun game of language mastery. Have world language students use the immersion tool to help read and translate authentic text. For an ELL/ESL classroom, provide extra, specific practice in beginning English. ESL/ELL students can also use the immersion section to check their own written documents and connect with other ESL/ELL students. Offer this site as a supplement when you study cultures from around the world. Gifted students are sure to enjoy the challenge of learning some language phrases. Is your class remote learning?
