Fortunately, this site doesn't require registration and is ad-free! Begin by selecting formatting options that include PDF to JPEG, PDF to PPT, PDF to Excel, and more. Scroll down the page to find options for converting documents to PDF. After selecting the type of conversion desired, upload or drag your document to the workspace. Learn about ten critical historical events as an investigative journalist using this interactive site created for middle and high school students. The events, starting in the 1760s and the early republic, continue to gender equality from the 1850s to the present. Each activity includes primary sources that provide perspective on how these cultural events affected civic life. Begin each activity with an introduction that includes an overview, essential questions, and information about relevant journalists during that period. Next, begin the investigation by examining primary sources and completing the included social media activities. The final portion of each event looks at the outcome reported by journalists and offers an opportunity for users to create their own front-page news story. Educator Guides provide guidance for using these interactives and their correlation to national standards. Registration isn't required; however, it is highly recommended as it allows you to complete case study questions within the site and save progress. If your district blocks YouTube, then the videos may not be viewable.

In the Classroom
This site is a must-have for middle and high school social studies teachers. Allow several days for students to complete individual case studies; if time is an issue, assign portions of a case instead of completing the entire activity. Another option is to share a case study as an ongoing flipped learning activity to complete over two or more weeks or as a supplement for gifted students to use as an independent learning activity. If assigning as a long-term activity, ensure students complete the registration and save their work. Then, as students complete the final activity of writing a news story, share their articles as a PDF using PDF Convertor, reviewed here, then upload all of the PDFs to the PDF to Flipbook Converter, reviewed here, to create a flippable magazine that includes all student-written articles.

There are three main areas of the site to search for resources - the Blog, Google Ideas, and Resources. Blog content includes suggestions for feedback, gamifying classrooms, and sources for finding free content. Use the keyword search to look for specific information. The Google Ideas section shares material for all things Google, including using Chromebooks. Scroll down the page to find ideas sorted by Google tools and links to videos, templates, and related blog posts. Select the Resources link to find an abundance of free templates, how-to videos, and tools for remote learning. Be sure to dig around at length; there is much more available on this site, including a handful of free online courses for educators. The videos are hosted on YouTube. Engage students and get them excited to jump into learning with tech tools to support direct instruction for vocabulary. Learn to implement direct instruction based on Marzano's strategies to expand vocabulary in all subject areas and increase success in school and on achievement tests. Using the six-step approach, we'll explore tech tools to help bring vocabulary from short-term memory into long-term memory. Discover how to choose tech tools you can use to increase student collaboration and provide data for formative assessments. As a result of this session, teachers will: 1. Review Marzano's strategies for vocabulary instruction; 2. Explore tools for vocabulary instruction; and 3. Understand how to use tech tools to create formative assessments for vocabulary. This session is appropriate for teachers at all technology levels.

Learning to code helps students understand problem solving and logic while expressing their creative side. While increasing student fluency in coding technologies helps them prepare for many academic pursuits, it also helps them build perseverance, determination, and grit. Join us to explore a few cool tools that will help as you embark on this journey with your class. As a result of this session, teachers will: 1. Understand the components of computational thinking; 2. Explore Google tools that engage students in coding; and 3. Plan for the use of coding activities in the classroom. This session is appropriate for teachers at all technology levels.

gotLearning is a platform for students and teachers to discuss and share student learning and educational goals. Upload documents, add videos, or scan items to begin the collaborative process. Documents open up inside a learning conversation that offers several options for creating ongoing discussions and feedback between teachers and students. Students use the app to scan and upload work to the platform. Use the educator dashboard to share and monitor assignments and to differentiate work that fits the needs of students easily. The free option for the school year 2022-2023 includes adding up to eight classes and 150 students within an account and integrates easily with Google Classroom.

Research shows that students who feel safe and included are more likely to be academically motivated. Take time to focus on supporting and facilitating students' sense of belonging in the classroom. Join us to explore tools that will help students communicate and collaborate, support their social and emotional needs, and build a safe and inclusive environment. As a result of this session, teachers will: 1. Learn community-building strategies; 2. Explore tech tools that support communication and collaboration; and 3. Plan to use community-building strategies in the classroom. This session is appropriate for teachers at all technology levels.

This site states that it is "the world's largest public domain media search engine" and provides access to millions of public domain objects to view and download. Use Picryl to search for specific items such as Abraham Lincoln or Abraham Lincoln's papers. Sort information to view just text, images, or collections. Additional filters allow you to narrow down the time frame to include or select from suggested tags. Picryl also offers over 2,000 collections featuring various topics that range from lighthouses to glassblowing. After choosing an item, use the download link to save it to your device and access information to credit the source. Registration isn't required; however, it provides access to source URL information and allows you to create collections from resources found on Picryl.

This collection of teaching resources includes videos, lesson plans, media galleries, learning interactives, and more! Open each resource in this collection and find entire lessons already created for you. Share items quickly with your students with the share to Google Classroom or sharing links. Teachers can use the site's included Lesson Builder to create detailed lesson plans customized just for them. A free account is required to download and save resources.

The simulations are for high school students in social studies, history, and humanities classes. The digital simulations are designed to support student-driven learning, and the storyline is determined by the actions students take together. The page includes links to three learning scenarios where teachers can preview the game. Registration with a school email address is required to play. The resources on this site are designed for high school students.

EduProtocols are routines you apply to your lesson content, streamlining the instructional process and allowing you and your students to focus on the content. Join us to see how EduProtocols can help provide a framework for your lessons. As a result of this session, teachers will: 1. Understand the purpose of EduProtocols; 2. Explore a collection of EduProtocol routines; and 3. Plan for the use of EduProtocols in the classroom. This session is appropriate for teachers at all technology levels.
