Education World offers language arts, social studies, and art activities that applaud the contributions of guys who enrich the lives of children--their dads! These lessons can be created for important people in a child's life without a father figure. Examples include a grandfather, mother, or other adult. There are five suggested activities/lessons with little prep and maximum sentimental value.

First, create a reading guide for your younger students and weaker readers using Read Ahead, reviewed here. Next, introduce this article to the class on your whiteboard. Engage students by reading the title Father's Day: Controversy and Commercialism. Then, pair stronger readers with a weaker reader to read both articles and create a timeline using one of Canva's Timeline Infographic Templates, reviewed here. For older students, you could also have them create an AI timeline using MyLens, reviewed hereto compare their timeline to the MyLens timeline.

Bookmark this site to use as a resource for teaching material during holidays throughout the year. For each holiday use a bookmarking site such as Wakelet, reviewed here, to organize and share lesson materials, videos, and game sites for your students. Instead of worksheets or written reports, enhance student learning by asking them to create infographics sharing information about any holiday. Canva Infographic Maker, reviewed here, is a very easy to use tool that includes pre-made templates. Don't keep student learning to yourself, share their knowledge through holiday podcasts for your entire school and community to hear. Spotify for Podcastors (was Anchor), reviewed here, features many kid-friendly tools to get you started with creating and sharing podcasts.

Challenge your students to think about the meaning behind the various quotes. Have students create their own quotes about their fathers. Using a picture (or student drawing) use a program such as ThingLink, (reviewed here,) to have students narrate the picture (sharing their quote or a memory).

The online "father" quizzes (both free trial offers) require no membership and are very challenging. There are also reproducible worksheets in a variety of subjects.
