As the name suggests, this website offers numerous math videos. The videos answer specific questions (sent in by students). General topics include numbers and their properties, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals, percents, geometry, measurement, data, word problems, and advanced topics. The website currently features 20-30 videos. New ones are frequently added. Students and teachers are able to send in specific math questions, but the response time is currently "on delay." The videos are mainly audio with simple illustrations.

The possibilities at this website abound. The website offers both audio and visual descriptions for each math topic, thus enabling you to reach your visual and audio learners. Many videos also include an online quiz. Just enter the access code provided to begin. You will also need to provide a name and email address. These videos are hosted on YouTube. MathFlix is a resource of over 1000 videos sorted by topic. The site also includes over 400 downloadable worksheets that reinforce concepts and provide additional practice. The videos themselves are hosted at many different locations on the web, but this index makes it easy to find them by math topic. Enter the site by choosing either the "I am a teacher" or "I am a student" icon. The teacher link lists topics by standards and content within each standard. Choose from Number & Operations, Algebra, Technology, and more. Each of these links leads to further subcategories listing video titles to view. The student link leads to clickable images or words, including topic and subcategory. Choose one of these links to go directly to the list of videos available for that topic. Be sure not to miss the links at the bottom of the page. They aren't quite as obvious as information for the videos; however, they include additional information relating to Common Core, assessment, and curriculum support.

Each main topic includes links to the videos organized by more specific topics - for example, algebra videos are sorted by an introduction to algebra, rational expressions, equations and functions, equations and percentages, exponential and logarithmic functions, graphing, linear equations, and more. "I decided to put together Mathstory.com to keep students smiling and engaged as they mastered mathematical concepts," is Mr. R's explanation for this site that includes many resources for elementary teachers along with a few lessons for Jr High and High School teachers. Be sure to check out the Math Videos page which includes 20 homemade videos created for learning strategies for counting and multiplying (the page may be slow to load because of the number of videos included). The Math Story link currently leads you to the online book, Fourth Grade and the Evil Wizard of Math. Each chapter contains math problems. There are many math lessons included for all grade levels. Don't miss the interesting math poems to learn geometric shapes. There is A LOT here to explore!

Vi Hart's math videos have become very popular. They have even been featured on various cable shows. She also includes her Twitter information, so you can follow her. In the link, "Math Doodling," are several videos on doodling in the math classroom sure to entertain Math teachers and students alike. Titles include Stop-Motion Silly Band Fight, Sick Number Games, Snakes + Graphs, Stars, Binary Trees, and others. Be sure to also check out the link to Mathematical Food which contains demonstrations of slicing apples into Platonic Solids, slicing a cubic apple to find a regular hexagon, and how to arrange candy corn into Sierpinski's Triangle. After catching students doodling during Math class, show one of the doodling videos to show students how their doodles can really be productive! Your visual learners will love it. There are many topics, and most include subtopics: everything from rounding to exponents to decimals to pre-algebra! It is a very cool place to find homework help or an alternative teaching approach for various math concepts from things as simple as adding whole numbers to more advanced topics such as geometry. The site is divided by click-able math topics. The site does have some advertisements, but they are fairly easy to overlook. If your district blocks YouTube, the videos may not be viewable.

Math train is a "kids teaching kids" math project created from Mr. Marcos (and his students) of Lincoln Middle School. Browse student created, teacher created, or captioned math videos easily found using the search function. Videos can be viewed without a login. Most videos focus on a very specific topic and are short in length. Use the url or the embed code to share the video and add comments. Teachers and students can join math train and upload videos to teach math concepts to others. Registration requires an email account. Check your district's acceptable use policy regarding student use of email addresses. This site requires Flash. You can get it from the TeachersFirst Toolbox page. Note: the "we are upgrading" message does not prevent you from using the site!
