TeachersFirst Reading Treks create a virtual field trip of resources about a piece of literature or text using the My Maps feature of Google Maps. This Reading Trek provides inspiration and suggestions for using the trade book Mr. Popper's Penguins. In the book, Mr. Popper is a poor house painter who receives a penguin as a gift. He alters his home to accommodate two adult penguins and ends up with ten baby penguins. Once Mr. Popper realizes how funny the penguins are, they begin a comical cross country tour performing in large theaters. Use our robust Instructional Guide with students in grades 3-5.
