This recording of an OK2Ask online professional development session from August 2015, opens in Adobe Connect. Once upon a time, teachers wanted to make content meaningful and relevant to their students' lives. They carefully crept into the TeachersFirst world of Ok2ask and the world of Digital Storytelling! There, revealed to all teachers, were ways to promote higher level thinking skills and multiple intelligences in content areas to increase enduring understandings of any unit or topic. Along the way, they discovered; what digital storytelling is, how to plan, develop, find web-based tools to assist, and evaluate. Around the bend, the teachers uncovered resources to promote collaboration and sharing of the story. Come into this TeachersFirst Ok2Ask webinar and see how to integrate digital storytelling as a formative, summative, effective way to learn content. This session is for teachers at ALL technology comfort levels.

As a result of this session and through individual follow-up, teachers will: Uncover the mysteries of digital storytelling, and discover how to use it easily and effectively; Follow steps for successful implementation of a digital storytelling project, locate supporting materials and handouts appropriate to your class, grade, and subject; Discover ways to integrate digital storytelling into the curriculum; Review resources for healthy digital citizenship; Explore a variety of web based tools and resources to support digital storytelling; and (Follow up) Consider possible projects or activities integrating digital storytelling with curriculum from science, social studies, math, or others. One way to prepare is to learn something new that you would like to try next year. Join our TeachersFirst Inaugural Summer Book Club as we read and discuss Boni Hamilton's "Integrating Technology in the Classroom." We'll have synchronous sessions via Adobe Connect and discussion via Google+. Reading, discussions and webinars should take about 45 hours.

More than likely there is an app for that! Let our team of BYOT "tech-perts" help you find useful free tools to get started with BYOT or complement your current app offerings. The tools that we will share are "device agnostic" - meaning they will work on any device and are offered in both app and web browser formats. We will share tools to communicate with students, parents, and colleagues (collaboration). Participants will have the opportunity to explore tools for differentiation and assessment. We will share management strategies for all levels. Participants will also try out tools to organize their students, their classrooms, and themselves! This session is for teachers at ALL technology comfort levels.
