Assign students into pairs or cooperative learning groups, and have them choose one of the many topics to research in the "Rome Exposed" section. Have each student group research their topic, with the intent to present their information to the class. Have each group prepare a quick presentation by creating online books using a tool such as Bookemon, reviewed here. In a personal economy lesson, use this site to help students "plan a trip" to Paris. Assign students to cooperative learning groups, with each group receiving a hypothetical amount of money, and directions to find lodging, food, transportation while surveying the sites of Paris. This is a great way to teach students how to budget with real world prices and figures. For an emphasis on French history, require students to participate in certain tourist activities in their hypothetical situation - simultaneously creating challenges to their budgets. A great way to add some relevance to an economics lesson.

Enhance the foreign language curriculum through the integration of geography, food, and literature as related to Spanish culture. Students analyze literature created by modern Latino authors who use foods as symbols for identity, patriotism, religion, and nostalgia. This series of lessons promotes understanding of the Creole culture as it exists on the Caribbean islands of Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic.
